Excerpt:
“In part an homage to the 1979 NYC gang movie The Warriors, the video for “Something Good” features a local Portland DJ introducing the track and the band’s members (and their friends) going on an epic chase in search of—what else?—something good. They run through the streets of Portland’s Chinatown in fur coats, carrying baseball bats. (What, you wanted it to make sense?) Over an off-color montage of guitar strings (a reference to the film Velvet Goldmine, another influence) and old black-and-white film clips of bustling city crowds, lead singer Jsun Atoms croons, “Give me something good / I’ve been misunderstood.” The video’s references might be lost on some, but the song that accompanies them is worth a listen—laid-back and dreamy, there’s a decent chance it will make you feel better about… well, whatever it is that’s bothering you. Here’s to good things everywhere.”
